Tec Deep Instructor Training Course

Blue Horizons Tec Diving instructor trainers will provide you with the most complete program in the industry. We will coach you to demonstration level skills and academic presentations. After assisting with a program you will be ready to put together and teach a full Tec Diving program.

There are two parts or our instructor training program. Part one is designed to make sure you understand the Deep Tec Curriculum and to practice Tec Diving skills. Part two prepares you to teach a Tec Diving course. If you are new to Tec Diving you need to complete part one option A and part 2 listed below. If you are already a certified Tec Diver or a Tec Instructor with another agency you need to complete part one option B and part 2 listed below.

Course Outline

Part 1

Option A - Take the complete Tec Deep course with the Deep Tec Instructor Trainer - $1600

Option B – For candidates who already have Tec Deep Diver certification or equivalent - $800

1. Independently read the Tec Deep Diver Manual and complete all knowledge reviews.
2. Complete the Tec Deep Diver Examinations, scoring 80% or higher.
3. Complete Practical Applications 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8.
4. Complete training dives 2, 5, 7, 9 and 12

Part 2 – All candidates - $500

1. Review the Tec Deep Diver and Apprentice Tec Diver Course Instructor Guide
2. Skill evaluation circuit – all skills to be preformed to a score or 4 or higher.

Remove and replace 2 stage/deco cylinders underwater
Remove and replace 2 stage/deco cylinders at the surface
Lift bag deployment
Neutrally buoyant deco stop with visual reference only for 10 minutes
Gas shut down drill on bottom within 45 seconds
Neutrally buoyant gas shut down drill
Gas sharing long hose as donor and receiver
NOTOX gas switch on bottom
NOTOX gas switch while maintaining neutrally buoyant stop
Time/depth/SPG awareness
Unresponsive diver tow on bottom

3. Give 2 microteaching presentations from the Tec Deep Diver curriculum, scoring a 3.4 or higher.
4. Complete dive planning portion of Practical Applications 2 and 4.
5. Teach 2 skills from training dives 2 and 3, scoring a 3.4 or higher.
6. Teach 2 skills from training dives 6and 7, scoring a 3.4 or higher.
7. Complete the Tec deep Standards Exam and the Tec Deep Instructor Exam, scoring 80% or higher.
8. Assist with one complete Tec Deep Diver course

Tec Deep Instructor prerequisites

1. Renewed PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer or higher
2. PADI EAN instructor
3. PADI Deep Diver instructor
4. Have certified 10 or more PADI Deep Divers and/or PADI EAN divers
5. Tec Deep Diver certification or certification from another agency for technical deep diving using air enriched air and pure oxygen for decompression dives to at least 165 feet.
6. Assist with at least two Tec Deep Diver courses or one Tec Deep Diver course and one Apprentice Tec course. Taking the Tec Deep Instructor course counts as assisting with one Apprentice Tec course.
7. 270 logged dives with at least 25 stage decompression dives that had a maximum depth deeper than 130 feet.
8. Successfully complete the Tec Deep Instructor Standards Exam and the Tec Deep Instructor Theory and Practical Application Exam. Both are given as part of the Tec Deep Instructor course.
9. Meet peer review waterskills requirements. Conducted during Tec Deep Instructor course.
