Tec/Rec

Technical diving is a segment of the sport designed for the select few who wish to dive beyond recreational dive limits. It is incredibly challenging, requiring a significant investment in training and equipment. With the increased risks, and lower margins for error, focus and concentration throughout the planning and execution of the dive are critical. Through the TECREC curriculum, PADI/DSAT has designed state of the art training for divers interested in this increasingly popular sport.

Blue Horizons has three technical diving instructor trainers on staff. Each has extensive experience in technical diving in the North Atlantic and also in some of the world’s most exotic locations, like Bikini Atoll.

Our courses are taught in the Blue Horizons style of combining excellence with fun. The course begins with the basics in shallow water and builds to deep water adventures. Academics are learned through a combination of home study and classroom presentations with lots of hands on practice. Class size is extremely small due to the complex nature of training.

We offer two levels of certification for Tec divers, Apprentice Tec and Tec Deep. Apprentice Tec introduces divers to the planning and skills necessary for Tec diving. This course is perfect for those who either do not yet meet all of the prerequisites for Tec Deep. The Tec Deep course builds on the skills learned in Apprentice Tec and extends certification to 165’, and teaches multi stage decompression skills.
