The coast of North Carolina juts out into the Atlantic allowing easy access to the warm clear waters of the Gulf Stream. This river of warm water, with visibility often in excess of 100 feet, brings tropical fish so thick that they can hide the spectacular wrecks. You may see angelfish, butterfly fish, groupers, arrow crabs, lobster, moray eels, manta rays and other creatures normally associated with Caribbean diving.
Searching for artifacts and collectibles is one of the most rewarding activities a diver can engage in. North Carolina offers some of the best souvenir hunting in the world. Divers bring up portholes, WWII ammunition, pottery and other objects every day. This is truly a treasure hunter’s dream come true!
